The Story
Terre di Melazzano is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine producing region of Tuscany, half way between Siena and Florence. When you drive down the renowned Chiantigiana country road that connects these two historical cities you’ll come across the organic wine farm. It is spread across 40 hectares of land: 22 are dedicated to vineyards and 3 are filled with olive trees. In 2012 the farm transitioned to an organics that involves the exclusive use of natural products throughout the growth cycle in the vineyards. This dedication to research and development led to the crafting of the first sulphite-free Chianti Classico.
Winemaking
The blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot and 5% Canaiolo are fermented and macerated in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for 18 days before transferring to French oak barrels for 12 months. The wine is then allowed to rest in bottle for 6 months prior to release.
Tasting Notes
This organic wine has a persistent, refined earthy perfume with a scent of sweet violet. The palate of red fruit has a warm, velvety and soft structure with hint of nutmeg on the finish.
