Valiano wines represent the core expression of the Piccini family's commitment to quality and terroir. The Chianti Classico “Poggio Teo” plays a fundamental role in the Valiano Estate. A Single Vineyard covering the north, east and south sides of the Poggio Teo hill. The 10ha vineyard is located at 400 meters above sea-level, the highest point of the estate, planted on sandy rocky soil. The layer of fragmented rock near the surface ensures excellent drainage, whereas the clay layers above and beneath the fragmented rock are natural water “reservoirs” for the vineyard. Significant diurnal ranges guarantee the production of healthy and particularly aromatic grapes.
The grapes are hand harvested and selected in the vineyards. The clusters, carried in small bins, are sorted again on a sorting table before going into the de-stemmer. Maceration lasts for about 15 days, with frequent pump-over procedures, followed by délestage. Racking and malolactic fermentation ensue. Ageing: 18 months in 10-20 hl French oak barrels for the Sangiovese.
Sweet ripe cherries on the nose with flowers and sandalwood, following through to a full body with tight, integrated tannins that are polished and refined. Fresh and creamy textured on the finish. From organically grown grapes.

2016 Villa al Cortile Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG
The Villa al Cortile estate is part of Tenute Piccini, a Tuscan family that has been committed to the wine industry for four generations dating back to 1882. Today, Piccini Villa al Cortile is one of the big guns in Tuscan winemaking and when it comes to Brunello, they are one of the biggest producers, and for the BEST of their Brunelli, we look to their single vineyard estate Villa al Cortile.
The 12 hectares of vines is split between two properties. An 8 hectare parcel in Montosoli in the north of the appellation has a north-to-northeast exposure, and cooler temperatures which contribute acidity and age worthiness to the final blend. The second 4 hectare property in Lavacchio in the southwest gets more exposure to the sun; the grapes here provide more obviously fruity characters to the wine.
Bunches of 100% Sangiovese are hand-picked into small bins to ensure berries arrive intact at the winery. After de-stemming the fruit is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The malolactic fermentation takes place in tank and the wine is racked several times before maturation in oak for 24 months.
Fragrant blue-flower, perfumed berry, new leather and pipe-tobacco aromas waft out of the glass along with whiffs of a freshly tilled vineyard. The smooth, elegantly structured palate delivers juicy Marasca cherry, crushed black raspberry and baking spice framed in polished tannins. It also has surprising freshness for the hot vintage that lends balance. Drink 2022–2030.

2020 Torre Mora Cauru Etna Rosso DOC
The Etna DOC production area is an exceptional place for viticulture. This area is distinguished by some unique features which, when combined, generate a complex microclimate: a loose and fertile volcanic soil, at high altitude characterized by an important daily thermal excursion. A unique place that stands out for its special bond with the typical vines of the area: Nerello Mascalese, the main vine of the slopes of the volcano for the reds, and the Carricante for the whites. Torre Mora has 15 hectares of vineyards located 380 meters above sea level, which enjoy a favorable exposure that, combined with the lava nature of the land, give extremely distinctive, mineral and spicy characteristics to the wines.
The age of the vines varies between 12 and 15 years. Due to the steep land on which the vineyards are located, the training systems are spurred cordon in the small flat areas and the sapling on the terraces. The soil, purely volcanic, characterized by an acidic pH, is very fertile. Despite the shallow depth (30-40 cm deep before reaching the basalt layer), the soil is extraordinarily mineral and rich in traces and microelements brought by volcanic eruptions.
Cauru is a blend of two different crus located in Contrada Alboretto Chiuse del Signore Linguaglossa village, and Rovittello on the Northeastern side of Mount Etna. The Cauru name Sicilian for hot, refers to the internal heat and energy of the volcanic soil. The unique climatic conditions as well as the mineral rich land unleash marvelous perfumes and create this incredibly elegant wine.
Fragrant bright red fruit, cherries, violet, notes of peach. Elegant, fruit driven wine, with good balance and nice persistence.
