2019 En Sazenay
$64.95 x12
The Story
The Suremain family has been farming grapes in Burgundy since 1870. The 18 hectare property contains 5 1er Cru vineyards, including the covered 2 hectare En Sazenay parcel.
Winemaking
Two hectares of Pinot Noir are grown on the eastern exposure of the clay-limestone slopes. The grapes are then hand-picked and hand-sorted to ensure only the purest berries are used. The juice is fermented in open top barrels. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels (15% new) for 12 months. During this period the wine goes through a tranquil malolactic fermentation.
Tasting Notes
On the eastern side of Mercurey, this vineyard is one of the leading premier crus. This wine with its structure and generous fruits is densely textured and still young. Powerful black fruits are fresh, juicy and developing. Drink this wine from 2023.
