2018 La Pevera
$64.95 x 6
The Story
La Pevera pays homage to the rich Tuscan wine tradition taking its name from an ancient winemaking tool. In ancient times, the ‘pevera’ was a wooden funnel that was used to put wine into barrels. Honouring this glorious past, La Pevera is a prestigious Super Tuscan that reinterprets the wine tradition.
Winemaking
The Sangiovese (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) and Syrah (10%) are harvest and vinified separately in stainless steel tanks. The maceration and winemaking process guarantee a gentle extraction of supple tannins and complex aromas. The resulting wine is then blended and kept in old cement tanks where the malolactic fermentation takes place before aging in French tonneau for 24 months.
Tasting Notes
Intense purple colour with violet hues. It has an expressive nose with very elegant oak and toasting, hints of coffee and dark chocolate, backed by ripe fruit, elderberries, blackberries, black cherries and plums, with nuanced floral notes. The palate is opulent, rich yet elegant with freshness, minerality and fine acidity. A vibrant mid-palate, excellent length and multi-layered complexity form a wine typical of the hot vintage.
