2018 San Lazzaro
$64.95 x 6
The Story
Valiano wines represent the core expression of the Piccini families commitment to quality and terroir. San Lazzaro is the sublime synthesis between Sangiovese and its cru of origin. In every drop, the celebration of the territory is inextricably linked to a wonderful sensory experience. The San Lazzaro cru stands at 360 m a.s.l., benefiting from a south-west exposure. The vines were planted in 2006 on a clayey and rocky soil.
Winemaking
After the harvest, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation in small steel vats at a controlled temperature, followed by a maceration that lasts about 15 days. Then, the malolactic fermentation takes place, entirely carried out in French oak barrels. The ageing then occurs over the next 18 – 20 months in large French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes
It proudly shows a superb ruby red colour, enriched by precious purple hues. Its delicious fruity bouquet offers sumptuous aromas of black cherry, raspberry and vanilla. The soft tannic texture gives the wine an enchanting persistence, which gently leads to a pleasant savory note.
