2019 Alder Springs Vineyard Syrah

TERMINIM is a collaboration between French winemaker (Northern Rhône Valley) François Villard and California winemaker Donald Patz. The wines are produced from traditional Rhône Valley grape varieties carefully grown at the famous Alder Springs Vineyard in the mountains of Mendocino County, California. The resulting wines are a unique melding of the two winemakers’ tastes in wine and an example of how working together sometimes magic can happen.

100% Syrah from the Spirit Rock block at Alder Springs. Not a monster wine but one that shows the deep purple color of young Syrah along with the signature aromas – blackberry, earth, smoked meat, and rich tannins to follow it. Very reminiscent of Mr. Villard’s Northern Rhône Valley wines but with an unmistakable Californian twist. Drinking horizon is literally decades but it’s unlikely anyone will wait that long because it is so beguiling in its youth.
