The Place
Sicily's bond with fire runs deep, rooted in the fiery eruptions of Mount Etna. The volcano's dual nature as a creator and destroyer shapes the island's landscape and culture. Through its eruptions, Etna teaches resilience and unity, fostering unique wines and stories. Fire's presence in traditions, signifies transformation and passion. This elemental force embodies renewal and change, a reminder that from destruction, new beginnings can arise.
Winemaking
Nero d'Avola, a distinguished Sicilian grape varietal, encapsulates the island's essence in each velvety sip. Thriving under the Mediterranean sun, it draws flavors from the volcanic soil of Etna, embodying the fire spirit. After harvesting at optimal ripeness in the vineyard and carefully processing the fruit, it is aged in barrel for 6 months. Larger barrels are used for 60% of the production in order to increase micro-oxygenation and soften the wine, while the remaining 40% ages in the more common tonneaux.
Tasting Notes
Offers a deep, red color with aromas of ripe blackberries and hints of spicy black pepper. On the palate, it's rich and full-bodied, showcasing flavors of dark cherry, plum, and a touch of tobacco. The finish is long and velvety, leaving a lasting impression of dark fruit and subtle earthy undertones.
