THE PRODUCER
Lawson’s Dry Hills is one of Marlborough’s pioneering family-founded wineries. Ross
and Barbara Lawson planted their first vines on Alabama Road in the early 1980s, when Marlborough’s modern wine industry was still in its infancy.
The winery opened in time for the 1995 harvest. Today, Lawson’s works with vineyards across several of Marlborough’s important growing areas, including the Wairau, Waihopai, Omaka and Awatere Valleys, drawing on their different soils, exposures and microclimates to produce wines of distinctive regional character.
THE MOUNT VERNON STORY
A vibrant expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, the 2025 Mount Vernon combines intense aromatics with bright acidity and refreshing fruit. The nose opens with kiwifruit, kaffir lime, citrus zest and fresh garden herbs. The palate is juicy and lively, delivering concentrated citrus and tropical-fruit character balanced by crisp acidity. Fresh, clean and wonderfully refreshing through the finish.
2025 SAUVIGNON BLANC
This wine is a pure expression of a clean, crisp Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It is bursting with lemon, passionfruit and ripe tropical fruit, tied together with layers of fresh, green, herbaceous characters. The palate has lovely fruit concentration, balanced acidity and a gentle, dry finish.
2025 ACCOLADES
93 POINTS ★★★★★ — Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
92 POINTS — Marlborough Wine Show 2025
92 POINTS — New Zealand International Wine Show 2025
A HISTORY OF SUCCESS
Mount Vernon Sauvignon Blanc has developed a strong competition record over multiple vintages. The 2017 vintage earned five gold medals, while the 2019 vintage received Gold at the New Zealand International Wine Show—demonstrating the consistency of the Mount Vernon style well before the accolades achieved by the 2025 release.
SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is an important part of the Lawson’s Dry Hills philosophy. The winery is a Certified B Corporation and holds internationally recognized environmental and carbon-management certifications. Lawson’s Dry Hills was also an early adopter of Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW) certification, an initiative designed to protect the authenticity and provenance of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
