THE PRODUCER & HISTORY

Marquis de Goulaine is a traditional Loire Valley wine house producing wines from some of the region’s most recognized appellations, including Vouvray, Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine, Chinon, Pouilly-Fumé and Crémant de Loire. The house celebrates the remarkable diversity of the Loire, creating wines that emphasize regional character, freshness and classic varietal expression.

THE VOUVRAY STORY

Located in Touraine, just east of Tours, Vouvray is one of the Loire Valley’s historic white-wine appellations. Its wines are produced from Chenin Blanc, a grape prized for its naturally vibrant acidity, aromatic complexity and ability to produce wines ranging from dry to richly sweet and sparkling. The vineyards of Vouvray are strongly associated with tuffeau limestone, along with clay and flint soils. Combined with the tempering influence of the Loire River, these conditions allow Chenin Blanc to develop slowly while maintaining its characteristic freshness and acidity.

2024 VINTAGE & WINEMAKING

The 2024 Marquis de Goulaine Vouvray is made from 100% Chenin Blanc and produced in a dry style. Following harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery and undergo low-temperature fermentation, a technique used to preserve freshness and aromatic expression. A brief period of contact with the lees follows fermentation before bottling, contributing additional texture and softness while maintaining the wine’s lively character.

TASTING NOTES

Bright and inviting, with aromas of white flowers, crisp green apple and ripe pear. The palate begins vibrant and fresh, displaying Chenin Blanc’s characteristic acidity and lively fruit. As it develops, the wine becomes softer and more rounded, with a subtle creamy quality providing balance and texture. The finish is refreshing, smooth and persistent.

FOOD PAIRING

An exceptionally versatile Loire white. Excellent with oysters, shellfish, sushi and raw seafood, as well as grilled fish, poultry, charcuterie and soft cheeses.
