THE PRODUCER & HISTORY

Marquis de Goulaine represents the long winemaking heritage of France’s Loire Valley, one of the country’s most historic and diverse wine regions. The range focuses on classic Loire appellations and grape varieties, producing wines that emphasize freshness, elegance and regional character.
Muscadet is produced in the Pays Nantais, at the western end of the Loire Valley near the Atlantic Ocean. The region’s cool maritime influence plays an important role in preserving the bright acidity and freshness that have become hallmarks of its wines.

MUSCADET SÈVRE-ET-MAINE

Located around the Sèvre and Maine rivers, Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine is the best-known appellation within the Muscadet region.
The wine is produced from Melon de Bourgogne, the traditional grape of Muscadet. Despite its name, Muscadet is not made from Muscat. Melon de Bourgogne produces naturally fresh, dry white wines recognized for their citrus character, lively acidity and distinctive mineral and saline qualities.

THE “SUR LIE” TRADITION

Sur Lie means “on the lees,” referring to the traditional practice of allowing the wine to remain in contact with the fine yeast sediment following fermentation.
This extended contact helps preserve freshness while adding texture, roundness and complexity to the wine, creating a distinctive contrast between Muscadet’s naturally crisp acidity and its more rounded palate.

2025 TASTING PROFILE

Bright, fresh and delicate, with lively aromas and flavours of citrus, lemon and crisp apple. The palate combines refreshing acidity with subtle mineral and saline notes, while ageing on the lees contributes additional texture and roundness. The finish is clean, crisp and refreshing, showcasing the freshness and purity traditionally associated with Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine.

FOOD PAIRING

Muscadet is one of France’s classic seafood wines. Its crisp acidity and coastal character make it a natural partner for oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp and shellfish, as well as grilled or poached fish, sushi and fresh seafood platters.
